What we’ve found is that forward-thinking business leaders want to grow their businesses but feel constrained by too many barriers: not having a productive and cohesive team, employees are stretched too thin while others can’t pick up the pace, not enough people they can count on and workloads at capacity. They fear that poor attitudes, suffering productivity and burnout will cause their business and reputation to suffer, resulting in the inability to be able to make the impact they actually set out to make.

They are frustrated by the constant stress of the hiring merry-go-round and spinning their wheels training their teams without response and herding the team that never really seems to come together.

Their employees just aren’t performing to the expectation they know they can perform at, there isn’t cohesion in the teams, and employees seem to just have bad attitudes. Overburdened employees suffer declines in productivity, fall short of delivering metrics, fail to grow at the desired pace, and worst of all, the business loses one of its most valuable assets: experienced employees who know how to solve problems and be self-sufficiently productive. Frustrated top performers leave for other opportunities, leaving teams scrambling for resources and impairing quality while they train new employees. Despite the great effort the leadership puts forth, businesses remain stuck in a vicious cycle of further attrition of talent, deteriorating results, and disappointed customers. They feel they don’t have control over their outcomes and they will suffer loss of revenue and reputation, or worse, their biggest fear is that they won’t have the enjoyable enterprise they set out to have.

You do your best to demonstrate leadership in challenging times. You may have already tried hiring more help, offering more training, giving incentive bonuses and raises, and hosting social events to foster better relationships. But these band-aids don’t make the desired lasting impact and cannot address the real problem: a fundamental lack of converting employees’ knowledge into the actual skills needed to support your mission. What most training programs overlook is the fact that developing effective performance skills and collaborative communication within teams requires ongoing support, not just a one-off workshop or offsite retreat.

The truth is that changing your employees’ attitude towards work and engagement is actually a trainable skill. And leadership can learn how to double-down on the strengths of the employees they already have bridging knowledge, expertise and experience into the right roles giving the employees what they need to succeed and giving the business what it needs to thrive.

Developing the skills needed to bring everyone to perform effectively and keep them performing at their peak cannot be done overnight. New skills take ongoing support to develop, and too many training programs do not incorporate ongoing progressive guidance. And because employees abandon the new methods to meet the pressing demands of their work, trainings can wind up being a huge waste of time and money, without solving the problems at all. And the reality is that things will not change until your office commits to transforming its culture collectively into one that is authentically committed to high performance by incorporating neuroscience based methods for change.

What businesses really want is a thriving, high performing and profitable business inside and out where they have a good culture, their staff is motivated and committed to performing at their peak self-sufficiently without micromanaging so that the business can exceed the needs of the clients and their reputation can make the true impact they believe in.

The truth is they can have a thriving business ahead of the competition despite today’s challenges but nothing will ever change if they keep pressuring their staff to be more productive and relying on the same resources and instead invest in the right support.

In order to take their business to the next level to improve retention, improve the workplace vibe and have employees who actually like working, are happier, feel appreciated and are appreciative, they have to remove the barriers before them, invest in a superior neuroscience based method and learn how to guide their staff to operate more powerfully so their employees will stick with them for years to come.
